Letter to recent donor

Dear (confidential by donor's request),
Words are just not enough - THANK YOU FROM MY HEART. Bruce has told me
of your gift to our projects here in Indonesia....
My first goal is to purchase a transport vehicle for the Tsunami relief
clinic in Aceh. Since Feb. we have been renting a car, which is costing us
nearly 700$ per month, and it is not very dependable. This eats a huge part
of our patient care budget. Cars in the tsunami zone were mostly
destroyed, so Aceh has become the most expensive place in Indonesia to rent
a vehicle.
We have been awarded Government clinic status, which makes our Tsunami
relief project sustainable. There is always the chance the foreign aid will
be asked to leave Aceh... In that case many many survivors will die. Since
we are an Indonesian Not-for-profit, we will be allowed to remain, no matter
what - if we continue to be blessed.
It has been a difficult week, we had a patient in Aceh who we could not
save, he died yesterday of kidney failure - only 30 years old, only one of
his children, and his wife survived the tsunami, and now they have lost him.
We had transported him to Medan... But he had come to us too late.
Then, life brings us reminders that all is as it must be... Two hours
ago a woman we never saw before, very poor, appeared at the Bali clinic, and
splash, had her baby immediately. A beautiful boy. Though his mom was
malnourished, he comes healthy into the world. These are the daily
blessings we are permitted to witness. Miracles. Paula - thank you for
making the miracles possible. Your donation will go toward both the clinic
in Bali and in Aceh.
We also are working to open a youth center in Ubud, Bali - since the
bombing here in 2002, the economy been so hard. The young people have no
chance to sell their handicrafts. We hope to help with computer and life
skills courses (free). This will give young people a chance to develop
skills that do not depend upon tourism. It should also help curb the crime
rate in Bali, which is up since the bombing. It is also a place where the
kids in wheelchairs can enjoy fun activities with other young people.
I will attach a couple of my reports, so you can read about our
activities...

Thank you for your trust. OM Shanti, Ibu Robin Lim
